Broken Robot is a puzzle platformer where you play as a malfunctioning robot. Robo-Bot controls much like any other platformer, except sometimes it's moves are not fully accessible. Moves which are 'looping', are free to use for the first 8 seconds, then repeat themselves afterward. Watch as the company and CEO funding Robo-Bots development reveals itself to be more and more incompetent and reckless, as Robo becomes more and more dysfunctional over 12 levels. This game was built for the GMTK 2025 Game Jam.

I used a variety of free and open source products help create this game, as well as its assets. The game was in Godot (as is evident from it's unchanged game icon, sorry there wasn't time for everything!). I designed Robo-Bot, as well as all other 3D assets, using Blender. For 2D art I used mostly Krita, with some Paint as well. This was my first time adding for a lot of thing involving game development, including the first time tackling sound design. With that being taken into consideration, I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish with it in a short amount of time: I created the theme for my game using BeebBox. All of Robo's moves are scored by recordings I took of everyday noises (Rubik's Cube, Heater, Drill). I created a couple sound effects using Chiptone and SFXR as well. I'd like to thank my good friend Liam Dickie for doing a fantastic job voice acting Robo's death quips! I Robo-fied his voice using some filters in Audacity, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The one asset used that I didn't make was the Wilhelm Scream - I couldn't help myself!

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to play this game, it's only existed for 4 days, but it has a special place in my heart.
